Naga:The City of Lights

In November 2008, Naga lost its cityhood, along with 15 other cities, after the Supreme Court of the Philippines granted a petition filed by the League of Cities of the Philippines, and declared the cityhood law (RA 9491) which allowed the town to acquire its city status, unconstitutional. The said cities, the court ruled, did not meet the requirements for cityhood.[5]
On December 10, 2008, Naga and the other 15 cities affected filed a motion for reconsideration with the Supreme Court. More than a year later, on December 22, 2009, acting on said appeal, the Court reversed its earlier ruling as it ruled that "at the end of the day, the passage of the amendatory law (regarding the criteria for cityhood as set by Congress) is no different from the enactment of a law, i.e., the cityhood laws specifically exempting a particular political subdivision from the criteria earlier mentioned. Congress, in enacting the exempting law/s, effectively decreased the already codified indicators."[6] As such, the cityhood status of Naga was effectively restored.

If you're looking for some place to unwind or relax, the Bay Walk at City of Naga will be a very nice place for the mood. It's a perfect place to hangout. Very right for couples, family, friends and barkadas to get together. And if you feel like being alone to think some things over then the breeze of the sea will surely make your mind work faster. It is also a nice venue for an afternoon picnic overlooking the sea.
There are a lot of activities being done in the place, especially at night. You can watch basketball game, volleyball game and also lawn tennis matches at night. Sometimes there's a group of people who go there to play American football (rugby) in the field during afternoon.
You can ride a bus from Cebu South Bus Terminal and just tell the driver your getting off at City of Naga church or Gaisano Naga. If you like to ride a jeep, you can ride a jeep going to Basak then ride again going to Naga. That's 2 rides from Cebu City proper.

DAGITAB FESTIVAL of NAGA CITY
It is a grand festival of lights that happens right before Christmas in Naga City, Cebu.
"Dagitab", which means light or electricity, is translated into a festival as it is the town's pride for being the home of one of the leading electric utility provider in the country, KEPCO (Korean Electric Company) which is set to address the looming power shortage in the Visayan Region.
The festival expresses six aspects of dagitab's contribution to Nagahanons: light, progress, industry, tourism enhancement, economic development and employment.

St. Francis of Assisi Church was made of coral and limestone by Fr. Simon Aguirre in 1839 patterned after the designs done by Bishop Santos Gomez MaraƱon. The convent was constructed in 1864. Both bell tower and convent were demolished in 1942 and reconstructed in 1974.
